Protect Your Pipes
Prevent Home Damage Due to Acidic Water
Acidic water is a common problem in wells throughout southeastern Pennsylvania. Over time, highly acidic water corrodes pipes and fixtures, wreaking havoc on your plumbing from pinhole leaks to failed appliances. Even worse, lead, copper, and other metals can leach out of your corroding pipes and into your drinking water, which can cause serious health problems, especially to children and unborn babies. No amount of lead is safe to consume!
If you have blue or green stains in your shower or on freshly washed clothes, your water is likely acidic. You might also notice that your skin and hair are extremely dry after bathing. Dierolf Plumbing and Water Treatment can test your water to determine its pH. A pH of 6.4 or lower is cause for concern.
Once acid water is confirmed, we’ll install an acid neutralizer to raise your water’s pH. These filters include a media of calcium or magnesium. As the media dissolves, you water becomes more alkaline, which stops the corrosion process. Acid neutralizers may also make your water taste less bitter.
Acid neutralizers are easy to maintain and protect your health and the health of your water heater, washing machine, and pipes.
Don’t ignore this important sign! Lead poisoning is extremely dangerous, and replacing pipes or appliances that are corroded beyond repair is an expensive fix. Dierolf Plumbing and Water Treatment can help Bucks, Berks, and Montgomery County residents test for and neutralize acid water before it damages your home and family.
